About Side Margin

Side Margin is an independent online magazine covering the things people are talking about right now — news that matters, technology, money, health and wellbeing, home and lifestyle, entertainment, and practical how-to guides. Our goal is simple: when something is trending or confusing, we want to be the clearest, most useful explanation you’ll find.

The site was founded in 2026 and is written and edited by Theo Marlow, an independent writer and small-business owner who started Side Margin to publish the kind of plain-language explainers he wished existed.

How we choose what to cover

We write about topics readers are actively searching for and asking about. Rather than repeating headlines, every article aims to add something: background that news reports skip, a step-by-step answer, a comparison, or an honest take on what a story means for ordinary people.

How our articles are made

Every article is researched from primary and reputable sources, which we link to so you can check them yourself. We use AI tools to assist with research, outlining, and first drafts. Every piece is then reviewed, fact-checked, edited, and approved by a human editor before it is published. Nothing is published automatically. Images are either our own, licensed, or clearly credited.

Accuracy and corrections

We try hard to get things right, and we fix mistakes quickly. If you spot an error, email us at hello@sidemargin.com and we will review it and update the article, noting the correction at the bottom of the page.

Advertising and independence

Side Margin is free to read and is supported by advertising, including ads served by Google. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or what we say. We do not publish paid articles or sponsored links disguised as editorial content. If we ever recommend a product through an affiliate link, we will say so clearly on that page.

Medical, financial, and legal topics

Articles on health, money, or legal subjects are for general information only. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation.
